WHY DID YOU GET INTO FITNESS (AND CROSSFIT)?

I started my career in fitness in 1983 when bodybuilding and low intensity aerobic exercise was the standard. By 1990 I was starting to work specifically with athletes but didn’t stray to far away from the original model. In 2006 I attended my first CrossFit Course and knew right away that this methodology was the future of fitness and sports performance.

WHY DID YOU GET INTO FITNESS (AND CROSSFIT)?

I started CrossFit as was way to keep in shape for college wrestling. It turned into a way to keep moving while rehabbing a torn LCL. I fell in love with being able to swing from the bars, and trying to lift more weight.

WHY DID YOU BECOME A TRAINER?

I graduated fro Sacramento State with a degree in Kinesiology, and began teaching kids movement patterns through PE classes. At the same time I was becoming very comfortable at the gym and had the teaching/ coaching mindset. CF Sacramento was in need of a coach and I felt I wanted the challenge of trying to teach adults movement patterns, and well now I live at a school or the gym. So I guess it’s working out.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE CROSSFIT MOVEMENT?

I love most body weight movements, but would have to say it’s pull ups. My favorite to put in workouts are wallballs and burpees! 😜 everyone loves burpees!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHEAT FOOD?

My whole diet is a cheat meal. Slurpees, pizza, ice cream. Do as I say not as I do right?

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SUPERHERO AND WHY?

Captain America is my favorite superhero because ‘Murica! Oh the Tick is pretty sweet, and the teenage mutant ninja turtles. They are superhero’s in my eyes. Cowabunga Dude.

WHAT YEAR DID YOU Get Into Fitness?

I’ve been a fitness instructor of one kind or another for almost 20 years.

WHY DID YOU GET INTO FITNESS?

I got addicted to learning what my body was capable of doing…and then doing more.

WHY DID YOU BECOME A TRAINER?

I want everyone to have that intense feeling of accomplishment that comes from pushing past limits, breaking out of the comfort zone, and knowing that just weeks prior, your body couldn’t do what it just did.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE TRAINING TOOL?

The bike is my happy place!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHEAT FOOD?

I’m a sucker for sweet baked goods. I get crabby when shopping at Costco on Not Cheat Day, and smelling the delicious aromas coming from the bakery.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SUPERHERO AND WHY?

Wonder Woman. Her strength comes as much from her compassion as from her demi-goddess status. I’m also a fan of Iron Man and Batman, whose “super powers” come from their intellectual prowess instead of their birthright.
